Layan Hawsawi is a gifted student who was given a £10,000 scholarship at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. She received this prize in recognition of her extraordinary performance at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, where she finished with a 99% grade.

Layan received the esteemed University of Sheffield, England Undergraduate Scholarship for her bachelor’s degree after achieving an impressive cumulative grade point average of 4.93 out of a possible 5.00 for her foundation degree at King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia.

These very sought-after scholarships are worth £10,000 toward the cost of tuition for undergraduate degrees. Before applying for the scholarship, candidates must have an offer to study at the University of Sheffield, per the university’s official website.

Layan highlighted her love of genetics on her LinkedIn page, noting how she is fascinated by the field’s growing use in everything from illness detection to therapy. She said that she intended to pursue a profession in genetic counselling, where she could use her knowledge and talents to help people have a better quality of life. She specifically exhibited an interest in clinical illness diagnostics and prenatal genetics. Layan emphasized her work on prenatal genetics screening for newborns and her strong interest in learning about the molecular causes of hereditary illnesses, cutting-edge therapies now on the market, and future developments, particularly in the area of cancer.
