“From Being a Doctor to Support Worker Abroad”: Nigerian Woman Describes Her Challenges
Dr. Cho, a Nigerian physician who moved to the UK to pursue her education and professional goals, recently revealed her inspirational story on TikTok under the username @_drcho. In the video, she discussed the difficulties she overcame and the choices she made along the way.
Dr. Cho faced a major obstacle when she moved to the UK to obtain a master’s degree in public health: she had to register as a physician before she could start practicing medicine. In order to operate in the UK, medical professionals who are not trained in the UK must pass the demanding Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB 1) exam.
Despite having the credentials to practice medicine, Dr. Cho was temporarily placed in a difficult situation since she couldn’t start working until she finished the registration procedure. Her goal was to become financially independent and pay her expenses, so she took the risk of applying for a job as a support worker. She worked 20 hours a week while pursuing her education.
She opened out about her early concerns about working in a new job and her dread of other people’s opinions in her TikTok video. She was able to face her worries and follow her desires with unwavering determination, though, as she accepted her new job and concentrated on her objectives.
