Family, let’s go abroad today. Without further ado, let me talk about Germany’s top 10 Universities as ranked by QS World University Rankings.

With one of the highest numbers of institutions rated in the QS World University Rankings, Germany is one of the most sought-after study-abroad locations worldwide.

  • UniversitÃt Freiburg

Founded in 1457, UniversitÃt Freiburg is one of the oldest top German institutions, ranking jointly 186th in the world this year with Case Western Reserve University in the US. Over 24,400 students attend it presently, many of them being foreigners.

  • Eberhard Karls UniversitÃt Tübingen

With a 2019 global ranking of 168th, Eberhard Karls UniversitÃt Tübingen is well renowned for its research and instruction in the theological and religious studies, medicine, and law.

  • Technische UniversitÃt Berlin

We are going to the capital, Technische UniversitÃt Berlin, which is renowned for its engineering programs and is rated 147th in the world this year. It is especially prestigious in the mechanical engineering and engineering management sectors.

  • Rheinisch-WestfÃlische Technische Hochschule Aachen

Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, the biggest technical university in Germany, is rated 144th in the world in 2019 and has an exceptionally high reputation among graduate employers (one of the six factors that went into creating the ranking).

  • Freie UniversitÃt Berlin

This year, Freie UniversitÃt Berlin, which is ranked 130th in the world, is celebrating its 70th anniversary of founding in 1948. As part of the German iIstitutions Excellence Initiative, it is one of the eleven prestigious German institutions.

  • Humboldt-UniversitÃt zu Berlin:

Humboldt-UniversitÃt zu Berlin, which is rated 121st in the world and is especially distinguished for arts and humanities subjects—achieving 24th place for this in the most recent QS World University Rankings by Subject—remains Berlin’s top-ranked university.

  • KIT, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie

Karlsruher Institut fýr Technologie (KIT) is a prestigious institution that is ranked 116th in the world this year. It is a leader in engineering and the natural sciences. It receives rankings in the top 100 for both research impact (citations per faculty member) and employer reputation.

  • Ruprecht-Karls-UniversitÃt Heidelberg

Ruprecht-Karls-UniversitŃt Heidelberg is still ranked third among the best universities in Germany but has moved up four spots to 64th in the world in 2019. It was established in 1386, making it the oldest in the nation.

  • Ludwig-Maximilians – UniversitÃt München

Ludwig-Maximilians – UniversitÃt Mýnchen (LMU), which is now rated 62nd in the world (only one slot below TUM) has also risen four places this year. LMU was founded in 1472 and has been linked to 42 Nobel Laureates, among them Thomas Mann.

  • Technische UniversitÃt München

After moving up three spots to rank 61st in the world in 2019, Technische Universitôt Mýnchen (TUM) is still the top German university. TUM is renowned for its entrepreneurial culture and has strong ties to employers and scientific institutions worldwide. This year marks TUM’s 150th anniversary.
