Ghanaian Scholar, Talks About Her Journey Erasmus Scholarship.

In 2021, Dorothy Mawuena Buatsi, a scholar from Ghana, received the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, which enabled her to study for a master’s degree in Europe with full funding. It was a transformative experience for her because the scholarship paid for her tuition, living fees, travel expenses, and health insurance. She launched a YouTube channel to share her knowledge about studying abroad and offer advice on applying for scholarships because she was so thrilled with her accomplishment.

She started her academic career at the University of Ghana, Legon, where she earned a first-class degree in political science and archaeology. She volunteered extensively and eventually finished her national service in the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies because she was passionate about archaeology. With the help of her professors and friends, she applied for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship after learning about it from a master’s student while working as a research assistant and assistant curator.

Buatsi stressed the value of starting the scholarship application process early. She suggested obtaining all the paperwork well in advance, including recommendation letters, academic transcripts, and evidence of English competence. She also emphasised the importance of writing a strong motivation letter that clearly communicates one’s qualifications and desire. An application’s quality can also be raised by asking mentors for comments and using online resources to learn from previous recipients.

When she thought back on her experience, she admitted that her initial hesitation to apply was due to self-doubt. She also felt bad about applying so close to the deadline because it put undue pressure on her. As a result, she urged aspiring candidates to get started early, maintain their confidence, and not allow fear to stop them from seizing opportunities. She came to see that having a positive outlook is essential to success.

Finally, Buatsi advises prospective students to improve their resumes by participating in volunteer work, internships, and extracurricular activities. She advised candidates to write compelling motivational letters and to apply to several positions. She concluded by expressing the hope that her tale will encourage others to take risks in order to advance their academic careers and obtain scholarships.
