“Go Home to Your Parents, Female Corps Members Are Advised.

Mrs. Yakubu, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator for Bauchi State, has counselled female corps members against living with their boyfriends after serving and instead to return to their parents.

On Thursday, March 27, 2025, she made this recommendation while awarding diplomas to corps members who had fulfilled their one-year required duty. Speaking to the crowd, she stated:

“Remember that your partners are not your parents, ladies. Don’t claim that you are going to your lovers’ houses after picking up your certificates. Celebrate with your parents by returning home. This is a time to celebrate your recent completion of national service with your loved ones.

Additionally, Mrs. Yakubu urged corps members to make the most of their training in Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED). She stressed the value of financial independence and exhorted individuals who had not yet learnt a trade to get started.

It’s not too late, even if you haven’t gained any knowledge from the SAED program. Find a way to help your parents instead of returning home to do nothing. Make good use of this final allowance by investing in learning a trade, she suggested.
