Miss Ifebude Benson, the most outstanding candidate in the 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) administered by the National Examination Council (NECO), was awarded a receipt for N500,000 by Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
During a ceremony in Awka on Sunday, the state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, presented the honour to the recipient’s father, Mr. Ben Benson, on behalf of the governor.

At the event, Chuma-Udeh underscored that the honour is indicative of Governor Soludo’s dedication to fostering academic excellence among Anambra students.
“The state government has made substantial investments in education with the objective of ensuring that it meets global standards and that Anambra students are equipped with the necessary skills to compete with their peers on a global scale,” she stated.
Miss Ifebude, a resident of Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area, achieved an extraordinary score of A1 in all nine subjects she attempted in the NECO examination. At present, she is pursuing a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Abuja.
Her father, Mr. Benson, expressed his appreciation to Governor Soludo for acknowledging and compensating academic excellence. He declared that the act would motivate students throughout the state and serve as an inspiration to his daughter to persist in her pursuit of excellence.
