The top graduates from the University of Lagos’ 55th convocation, Samuel Badekale and Haroun Adebakin, have been named the state’s Education Ambassadors by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The governor also gave each of them a cheque for 10 million in appreciation of their exceptional academic accomplishments.
Abiodun, who spoke at the occasion on Friday in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, commended the pair for achieving a flawless Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0, calling their accomplishments a source of pride for the state and motivation for other students.

“You have not only set yourselves on the route to greatness, but you have also made Ogun State proud. To encourage kids around the state, we are designating you as Education Ambassadors.
You will inspire others to pursue excellence by sharing your experiences through engagement activities. The governor praised the parents of the students for their sacrifices in providing their children with a high-quality education and emphasised the value of education as a weapon for success and the eradication of poverty. Citing programs like the learner identification system and the Revitalisation Agenda, he further underlined his administration’s commitment to reviving the education sector.
Badekale and Adebakin thanked the governor for the recognition in their statements, saying that their accomplishments demonstrate that young people can succeed by working hard and being dedicated without turning to dishonest means.
“Today’s honour demonstrates that perseverance and discipline are key to success. We urge youth to remain committed to their studies and refrain from behaviours that can bring shame to their families. Governor Abiodun promised ongoing assistance for their career goals and encouraged them to maintain contact with the Commissioner for Education.
