176 alumni from a variety of faculties received first-class degrees from Bayero University Kano (BUK) during its 39th convocation ceremonies.
The university’s vice chancellor, Sagir Abbas, said during a pre-convocation press briefing that the 4,402 graduates who received degrees, diplomas, and certificates during the weeklong event included 275 PhD students, 2,590 master’s degree recipients, and 535 postgraduate diploma holders.

Along with the academic honours, BUK also awarded honorary doctorates to industrialist Auwalu Rano and former Kano State military administrator Sani Bello for their humanitarian and educational accomplishments.
Mr. Abbas emphasised how Mr. Bello founded Kano’s scientific colleges, which have graduated hundreds of successful students, and how his administration approved the construction of BUK’s new campus.
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf attended the convocation ceremony, and Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, presided over the convocation lecture.
