High School’s First Black Valedictorian Breaks 27-Year History.

USA — At Sebastian River High School in Texas, 18-year-old Jayden Hughes, an African American-Hispanic student, has made history by becoming the school’s first Black valedictorian in its 27-year history. He had a remarkable 4.67 GPA and a 1410 SAT score when he graduated.

Jayden’s path wasn’t always easy. He remembers getting a “B” in a ninth-grade course and a 62 in algebra in seventh school, which motivated him to put in more effort. More than anything else, that B humbled me. You can’t be flawless all the time,” he said.
