“Incredible Feat”: NOUN To Honour 2 Notable Nigerians As 22 Graduates Bag First Class

The 13th convocation ceremony of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is slated to commemorate the graduation of 22,175 students on Saturday, April 13. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olufemi Peters, made this noteworthy remark during a press event in Abuja on Monday, April 8, as reported by the Leadership newspaper.

According to Professor Peters, a total of 22 graduating students successfully obtained First Class degrees. He stated that the university has a total of 15,768 undergraduate students and is expected to graduate 6,407 postgraduate students. He conveyed his satisfaction in declaring that six students will receive doctoral degrees.

In his words:

“I’m happy to report that we have 6 PhD graduates which is an indication that the University is gradually moving towards establishing a more robust post-graduate school.”

During the convocation ceremony, NOUN will not only commemorate the academic accomplishments of its students but also pay tribute to two notable Nigerian individuals. The exceptional achievements made by Dr. Innocent Chukuwuma, a distinguished entrepreneur and the creator of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (Innoson Motors), will be duly acknowledged within the realm of business. According to a report by The Nigerian Tribune, the institution will also honour Hajiya Hafsat Abdulwaheed, an activist who holds the distinction of being the first female author in Northern Nigeria, in recognition of her notable literary accomplishments.
