JAMB  Advises Parents Not To Register Their Minor Children for the UTME

Parents are advised by JAMB to wait till their children are mature enough to register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) rather than to enrol minors. Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar, issued this warning in response to a lawsuit brought by Mrs. Ifeanyi Eke against the Board for allegedly sending her 15-year-old daughter offensive texts during the 2024 UTME registration.

In response to claims that JAMB had sent her daughter, 15, indecent and unsolicited text messages, Mrs. Eke filed an N100 million lawsuit against the organization and three other parties in the Federal High Court of Lagos.

According to the JAMB Registrar, JAMB was the source of the offensive communications, and the perpetrator is a fellow student who is an undergraduate at one of the universities rather than any members of the JAMB or CBT centre staff.

How did your fifteen-year-old daughter prepare for college now? if she follows the law as she stated. According to current law, you have to attend elementary school for six years, secondary school for six years, and preparatory school for six years. By then, you’ll be eighteen.

However, you have to make compromises to prepare a 15-year-old youngster for university study when you cut three years out of the program.

Prof. Oloyede stated, “We will meet her in court, it is for the court to decide whether she deserves that money.”

Oloyede insisted that the sender obtained the minor girl’s phone number from the test facility because they needed to fill out a form. Oloyede said that the centre was handled properly because it shouldn’t have permitted an unauthorized individual to enter its property.

He went on to say that any centre that permits a parent to approach the area where the candidates are being examined will be eliminated.
