According to information released by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), candidates will need to pay a cost of N2,500 to change their names after registering for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). On Sunday, April 7, a candidate by the name of Kamdili made an inquiry that prompted this announcement.
In a tweet, Kamdili had inquired, “Please, what is the price of changing one’s name? I don’t want to have to visit your office twice, and the choice is no longer available on your portal.
In a fast response, JAMB said, “#2,500.00 only.” However, as JAMB does not accept name alterations after registration, you are encouraged to consider your choices before applying.
The exam board stressed that candidates should carefully consider their options because they are only allowed to alter their name once and cannot do it again. It is recommended that candidates consider this before contacting JAMB to request a name change.
