The Fraudulent Admission and Related Matters Investigation Committee (FARMIC) and the Examination Misconduct Cases and Malpractice Committee (EMCMC), two internal investigative panels, provided the basis for the action, which was announced in a circular signed by Abdullahi Muhammad, Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs).

The report claims that FARMIC discovered that five students, including Maryam Nasir and Essien Margret Lawrence, were admitted fraudulently and were either expelled or had their admissions cancelled. Meanwhile, more than 70 students from disciplines like architecture, public administration, building technology, civil engineering, and mass communication were found guilty of various types of exam malpractice by the EMCMC.

Some students, like Joseline Beauty Jonah and Muazu Umar, received suspensions of varying lengths of time, while others, like Ibrahim Muhammed Nazeer (Civil Engineering), Fauziya Abdulrahman Buba (Mass Communication), and Lawrence Samuel Anto (Building Technology), were expelled.

The panels cleared three students, including Abubakar Ibrahim Ashir (Computer Science).

The Polytechnic reaffirmed its commitment to academic integrity, underscoring its zero-tolerance policy for misbehaviour and promising to uphold the institution’s reputation by ongoing implementation of disciplinary standards.
