
The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has given Kayode Adewale, a maths teacher who was one of the top 50 finalists for the coveted $1 million Global Teacher Prize, 5 million and a bungalow in any part of the state.
The governor also designated Adewale Ogun State Education Ambassador. Adewale is renowned for his creative approach to combining technology with local language instruction at Imagbon/Imaka Comprehensive High School in Ogun State.
Abiodun commended Adewale’s outstanding accomplishments to education in a statement posted on X (previously Twitter) on Wednesday, emphasising his part in establishing Ogun State as Nigeria’s educational hub.
The statement said, “Kayode Adewale is a visionary educator who has gained international acclaim for his unrelenting dedication to using education to transform lives and communities.”
The 2020 Ogun State Best Teacher Award winner and Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun alumni Adewale has won praise for his commitment to excellence.
“We are happy to honour Kayode Adewale as Ogun State Education Ambassador,” the governor said, reinforcing his administration’s dedication to advancing innovation and education. We will give him a bungalow and ₦5 million to commemorate this accomplishment and encourage his exceptional efforts even further.
Adewale’s honour highlights how innovation and education have a profoundly positive influence in Nigeria and beyond.
