Lady graduates with first-class degree in biochemistry

Despite having to wait three years to be admitted, Okikiola Falua, a strong Nigerian woman, has excelled academically at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), graduating with a First-Class degree in Biochemistry.

On LinkedIn, Okikiola celebrated her accomplishment by sharing how the lengthy wait tried her patience but made her more determined.She made a self-promise to give it her all after being accepted, and she stuck to it throughout her academic career.

“After waiting three years to gain admission, I made a promise to give my best. Though the journey had its challenges, faith, hard work, and support from amazing people kept me going,” she wrote.

Her hard work paid off, as she received the title of Best Graduating Student in her department and graduated with a 4.56/5.00 CGPA. In addition to his academic achievements, Okikiola actively pursued scientific research, contributing to a publication on antibody-based treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and specialising in molecular docking simulations centred on Cytochrome P450.

She is proficient with computational biology tools like AutoDock and Chimaera and has experience with biochemical laboratory procedures like spectrophotometry and molecular docking. Okikiola is actively looking for opportunities in graduate studies, industry, and research in the fields of biochemistry, drug discovery, and computational biology as she starts the next stage of her career.

“Delays are not denials,” she says, encouraging individuals who are experiencing difficulties to maintain optimism and hoping to help bring forth revolutionary scientific breakthroughs.
