LASU VC suspends Prof. Biodun Adewuya as College of Medicine Provost.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has approved the interdiction of LASUCOM Provost Prof. Biodun Adewuya for insubordination, unauthorised disclosure of official information, actions prejudicial to the University and State’s security, divided loyalty, and conduct unbecoming of a public officer.
A memo with reference number LASU/ASE/PF/3394, dated 30 August 2024, states that these actions are serious misconduct and violate the University’s Conditions of Service for Senior Staff (September 2017) in Chapter 3, Sections 3.6 and 3.8 (3.8.1).
Prof. Adewuya answered two accusations questions before the interdiction. The Vice Chancellor found these replies inadequate and forwarded the issue to the Joint Council-Senate Disciplinary Committee.
In accordance with Chapter 3, Section 3.9.7 (e) of the University’s Conditions of Service for Senior Staff, Prof. Adewuya is suspended from all official duties as a Lagos State University employee and LASUCOM provost for three months starting September 3, 2024.
In the meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor has appointed LASUCOM Deputy Provost Prof. Olufemi Emmanuel Idowu as Acting Provost on September 3, 2024.
Prof. Idowu, from the Department of Surgery. Faculty of Clinical Sciences, will fill this role until the Joint Council-Senate Disciplinary (Academic) Committee evaluates Prof. Adewuya.
