LAUTECH Reaffirms Global Academic Standards.

As the university strives to be among the top 100 in the world, LAUTECH has defended awarding 94 First-Class degrees out of 11,528 graduates, claiming the honours reflect academic excellence and international standards.

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), located in Ogbomoso, has defended its choice to give 94 out of 11,528 graduating students First-Class honours, claiming that the academic accomplishments demonstrate the university’s dedication to quality and conformity to international educational norms.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Rasak Olatunde Rom Kalilu praised the calibre of LAUTECH’s graduates at a press conference held in advance of the school’s 17th convocation and 35th Founders’ Day celebration. He cited the graduates’ exceptional performance in the public and private sectors as proof of the university’s legitimacy.

“You will see that our graduates are among the most capable and resilient if you follow their trajectory,” Kalilu stated.

He revealed that although the university currently offers programs spanning 13 faculties, this year’s 11,528 graduates came from 12 of them. 94 First-Class, 2,086 Second Class Upper, 3,494 Second Class Lower, 756 Third Class, and 12 Pass degrees are among the 8,102 students pursuing bachelor’s degrees overall.

In the health-related programs, 133 students passed, 1,741 achieved Upper Credit, 145 received Lower Credit, and 7 nursing graduates received Distinction.

The Department of Science Laboratory Technology’s Adeladun Badirat Adeduntan was named the best graduating student overall by Kalilu, with a CGPA of 4.86. On April 22, she will receive recognition at the convocation event.

A research fair, exhibition, cultural performances, alumni celebrations, and the granting of degrees and prizes on April 22 will all be part of the week-long convocation activities. On April 23, postgraduate diploma and higher degree awards will follow.

As the top-ranked state institution in Nigeria, Kalilu reaffirmed LAUTECH’s goal to rank among the top 100 universities worldwide.
