
Joshua Adeyeye, a gifted Nigerian student, earned a first-class Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with an exceptional cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.62. He was named the Department of Law’s Best Graduating Male Student and the Faculty of Law’s Second Best Graduating Student for his outstanding academic achievement.
Joshua has achieved more than just academic success. After serving as Academic Secretary in the 2022–2023 session, he was elected as the 54th President of the Law Students’ Society (LSS) in the 2023–2024 academic year. He also made contributions as the Forum for Emerging Technology’s Chief Operating Officer and as a member of the Hon. Justice Innocent Umezulike Foundation’s Student Advisory Board.
Joshua received six important honours for his academic excellence, including the
- Dr. Teslim Elias Prize,
- The Prof. Imran Oluwole Smith Prize
- The Late Prof. Jelili Omotola Prize.
All of these were given in appreciation of his outstanding work in Land Law. Along with a ₦100,000 cash award, he was also given the Hon. Justice Innocent Umezulike Foundation Prize for Best in Land/Property Law.
He also received the Babs Mobolaji Prize and the Chris Ogunbanjo & Co. Prize in recognition of his outstanding contributions to company law. Joshua interned at prestigious law firms to obtain real-world legal experience, including:
- Belo-Osagie and Udo Udoma
- ALN Nigeria and G. Elias
Oyebode and Aluko He also performed exceptionally well in a number of events, taking first place in the SAA National Moot and Debate Competition organised by the Student Advocates’ Association (SAA-LASU) and the National Data Protection Moot Competition organised by Meta. He also placed first runner-up in the Nigerian Law School’s TRUSTED ADVISORS Moot and Mock Trial.
In a number of essay contests run by the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF), J.O. Fabunmi & Co., and other prestigious organisations, Joshua placed among the top three finalists.
Additionally, he committed himself to service by taking part in 15 volunteer endeavours, which included tutoring law students, judging essays, and mentoring. Joshua conveyed his sincere appreciation to the UNILAG Faculty of Law, the Distinguished Dean, the Dean in immediate succession, and his academic supervisor for their support and direction during his journey.
Joshua is a role model for aspiring legal professionals because of his inspirational story, which highlights his excellence, leadership, and dedication.
