The two female dormitories, Al-Ansar Indabo, on UDB Road and in Hotoro, Kano city, have been closed by the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria MAAUN, which withdrew its permission. Serious violations of the university’s student code of conduct were mentioned, including unethical behaviour, safety infractions, and students’ participation in unapproved nocturnal movements.
Vice President of Campus Life Dr. Hamza Garba made the announcement in a formal statement. The university emphasised that the closure follows several allegations that exposed inappropriate behaviour and unsatisfactory circumstances at the dorms. Poor access to power and water, violent student altercations, harbouring unauthorised persons, and frequent code breaches were among the main issues.

According to the statement, “Management has formally informed all stakeholders of its decision to revoke recognition of these hostels.”
Following the current semester’s exams, students are required to leave the property right away. The organisation threatened to take disciplinary measures against anybody who continued to associate with the impacted hostels.
The announcement ended by saying, “We will not be held accountable for consequences arising from any defiance of this directive.”
