Nwafor Orizu College of Education (COE) graduates are making headlines once again in the 2024 Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition.
Among the top achievers is Esomnofu Chidiebube, a Mathematics graduate and renowned online educator known for his work in overcoming mathematics phobia in students.
Esomnofu, recognized as the most followed African online tutor, emerged as the overall winner of the 10th edition of the Maltina Teacher of the Year Award.
At the prestigious ceremony held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Friday, October 11, 2024, he received a cheque for ten million naira (₦10,000,000) to support his ongoing efforts in education.
Another notable graduate from Nwafor Orizu COE is Chinenye Augustina Nwosu, a Biology teacher at Anthony Obaze Memorial Community High School in Anambra.
A 2018 graduate of the Biology Department, she made it to the top 11 finalists in the competition, representing the entire Southeast region.
Chinenye was also named the Anambra State Champion in this year’s Maltina Teacher of the Year event.
Adding to the pride of Nwafor Orizu COE, Chinenye is the wife of Comr. Joseph Afamuefuna Nwosu, a Physics graduate from the same institution (Class of 2014) and the 2024 Presidential Award Winner for Best Teacher in Nigeria.
Joseph, who was also a Top 10 finalist in the 2021 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition, continues to set the bar high in education alongside his wife.
