Despite experiencing homelessness and financial difficulties, Mary Otunba, a resolute Nigerian woman, has overcome all obstacles to attain academic success. She received a full scholarship to study for an MBA at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in the United States after graduating with a first-class degree in Economics (4.73 CGPA) from Caleb University in Nigeria.
She started her adventure in 2013 by graduating with a distinction in accounting from Yaba College of Technology. Her desire to become a chartered accountant was stoked by an internship she had after earning her diploma. She took the Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS) tests, passed all four of them, and was initiated in 2016 while pursuing her professional certification with ICAN after receiving encouragement from her peers.

When Mary lost her father and was left without financial assistance, her difficulties grew more severe. Despite her inability to pay for tuition, she persisted in enrolling in Caleb University’s Distance Learning Program. She relied on the generosity of generous friends who provided her with food and clothing throughout the months she worked and studied in an incomplete structure.
Mary maintained her focus in spite of financial difficulties and the demands of juggling employment and school. She earned a perfect 5.00 GPA in her final semester as an undergraduate, graduating as the top student in her department and becoming a certified accountant in 2019. She stands out for her tenacity and dedication to greatness.
She now has a fully financed MBA scholarship to Indiana University and a distinguished Forté Fellowship as a result of her hard work.Mary continues to be dedicated to her career and personal development as she sets out on this new path, demonstrating that tenacity and resolve can transform even the most trying situations into success.
