“My Original WAEC Certificate”: A woman visits her secondary school to pick up her results, spending N40,000.

In order to relate her experience and the costs she suffered when getting her original West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) certificate in Calabar, a Nigerian woman has gone to social media. She arrived at the Navy Secondary School via the voyage, from which she graduated a few years ago.

The woman said in a TikTok video posted by @simplychipps that she visited her old institution and obtained her authentic NECO and JSCE credentials in addition to her WASSCE certificate. She broke out her spending in detail, revealing that her journey to Calabar and other costs she incurred while on school property came to a total of N40,000.

She joked at the end of her video that she had finished her business with the school and that she might not be coming back anytime soon. The video’s description asked viewers to comment on their personal experiences and costs associated with getting their original diplomas from secondary schools.

Many social media users found resonance in the woman’s open account of her path, which sparked conversations and made others consider their own experiences obtaining academic credentials. Her article acted as a helpful reminder of the value placed on these records and the extent people will go in order to secure their ownership.
