The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, has approved the appointment of Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso as the 10th substantive Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, effective Friday, December 6, 2024.
The announcement came in a letter referenced MOEST/HSC.1/9, dated December 3, 2024, and signed by the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu.
Arc. Dr. Jolaoso succeeds Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, whose five-year term concludes on Thursday, December 5, 2024. The Chairman of the Governing Council, Emeritus Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his dedication to the Polytechnic and extended best wishes to the incoming Rector.
As the first alumnus to serve as Rector of the 45-year-old institution, Dr. Jolaoso brings a distinguished academic and professional background.
He started his career at the Polytechnic as a Laboratory Assistant in 1982. He advanced through the ranks and became a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Architecture in 2015.
His educational journey includes earning National Diploma and Higher National Diploma qualifications in Architecture with Upper Credit from Ogun State Polytechnic (1985–1988).
He furthered his studies at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, obtaining B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Architecture (1989–1994) and completed his Ph.D. in Architecture at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, in 2018.
Dr. Jolaoso is a Registered Architect and Fellow of several professional organisations, including the Association of Nigerian Chartered Architects and the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management.
He has contributed extensively to academia, with 78 publications and four research projects to his name.
Fluent in English, Yoruba, and Hausa, Dr. Jolaoso is married to Dr. Mrs. Azeezat Adeola Jolaoso, and they are blessed with children. His appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of the Polytechnic.
