NIAU Appoints Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi Acting Vice-Chancellor
Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi was named interim Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University by the Governing Council on Saturday after Prof. Joe Ikechebelu was ousted.
Ambassador Gregory Mbadiwe, pro-Chancellor and Governing Council Chairman, informed Awka press. Arinze-Umobi’s appointment is six months, following the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Act CAP 139, LFN 2004, and its revisions.
From Monday, July 22, 2024, the terms match federal rules for all colleges. For the university visitor’s information, the Minister of Education received the appointment letter.
Mbadiwe praised Arinze-Umobi and urged stakeholders to help her succeed in this critical job.
His message stressed her leadership strengths and the need for collaboration to achieve the university’s heritage.
Prior to the appointment, campus security was increased to guarantee a seamless leadership transfer.
