Niger Governor Budgets N5B for NYSC

Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State has pledged N5 billion for the development of a permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in the state. He also gave each of the Batch B Stream I corps members N200,000 to assure their comfort, along with 20 cows and a trailer load of rice.

During the swearing-in ceremony for the 2024 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, Niger State, Bago declared, “Every corps member serving in Niger State today will receive a N200,000 bonus from Niger farms.” There are around 1,600 of you, and we will credit your accounts with this amount to make your stay in Niger State more comfortable. We would also invest N5 billion to create a new NYSC camp for you.”

Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, also stated that the governor guaranteed corps members automatic jobs in the medical area when they completed their duty. The governor guaranteed the corps members of their safety and well-being and urged them to take part in the state’s agricultural revolution, giving assistance via Niger Foods Limited.

The state received 1,301 corps members as part of the 2024 NYSC Batch B Stream I Orientation Course. Justice Mariya Ismail delivered the oath of allegiance on behalf of Niger State’s Chief Judge, Justice Halima Abdulmalik.
