With an exceptional cumulative grade point average of 4.89 and a First-Class degree in Statistics, Oyelakin Olumide, a gifted Nigerian student, has been Ekiti State University’s (EKSU) greatest graduating student overall.
Olumide’s outstanding academic position was further cemented when he was recognised as the university’s top graduate and the finest graduating student in both the Department of Statistics and the Faculty of Science.

Olumide celebrated his milestone on Twitter by sharing a personal reflection on his path, which was replete with intense struggles, fear, and times of self-doubt. However, he attributes his success to his faith in God.
He stated, “There was always One who remained steadfast: my God, through every trial that sought to break me, through every temptation that tried to sway me.” “His faithfulness never wavered, even during the long nights, when exams seemed impossible, and when self-doubt whispered lies into my ears.”
Olumide also received the coveted Funmilayo Igbalajobi Memorial Scholarship as a result of his academic achievements. He is excited to take on the responsibility of mentoring others on how to obtain fully financed opportunities as part of his scholarship duties.
Olumide is an inspiration to many because of his purpose and humility; he is evidence that great things may come from hard work, perseverance, and faith.
