Brilliant Nigerian Woman Breaks 100-Year-Old Record at Indian University, Gets Master’s with Distinction

Stella Chinelo Emelife, a highly accomplished Nigerian woman, has achieved a remarkable feat at the University of Mysore in India. She has surpassed a century-old record by winning an impressive total of 20 gold medals and five cash awards, making her the top-performing graduate.

Stella earned a master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Mysore with a distinction mark of 92.6%. She became the first foreign student to achieve this honor and was the top graduate at the university’s 2018 convocation.

She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry with a first-class score of 4.86 from Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Nigeria. Additionally, she successfully finished her master’s degree with full financial support from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

Professor Sunday Olawale Okeniyi, the President of the National Council of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), praised Stella as a valuable asset to Nigeria and stressed the need of supporting her future aspirations, such as her intention to engage in cancer research.

Stella received the Ed and Julia Hodges Memorial Scholarship at the University of North Texas for her exceptional academic and research achievements in Chemistry. She said that the scholarship is evidence of her diligent efforts.
