Nigerians’ MTN Scholarship Program, 2024

Scholarship opportunities are being given out by the MTN Scholarship Scheme to deserving, high-achieving individuals who wish to pursue a degree program in Nigeria. The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme (MTN STSS) and the MTN Scholarship Scheme for Blind Students (MTN SSBS) combine to form this scholarship.

Qualifications

  1. Study Center
    • Scholarships from MTN Science and Technology (STS) and MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) are available to Nigerian students enrolled in Nigerian public tertiary institutions, including colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics. The number of blind students who will be awarded scholarships has been raised from 60 to 100 as of 2024.
    • If the necessary grade standards are reached, the annual prize amount is raised from N200,000 to N300,000 and will be given out till graduation.
  2. Study Plan
    • 300-level students enrolled in science and technology-related studies at Nigerian public tertiary institutions (colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics) are eligible for the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS).
    • 200 and 300-level blind students enrolled in any degree at Nigerian public tertiary institutions (colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics) are eligible to apply for the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS).
  3. Study Level
    • The MTN Scholarship for Science and Technology (STS):
    • Since the academic calendars of public tertiary institutions are not linked, the application is eligible for students who have finished their second-semester 200-level examinations and are currently enrolled in 300-level courses.
    • The MTN Scholarship for Students Who Are Blind (SBS):
    • Blind students in grades 200 and 300 at any public tertiary institution in Nigeria are eligible to apply (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). However, only 300 level pupils are eligible to apply for the MTN Scholarship for blind students studying law, which is a five-year program.
  4. The CGPA, or cumulative grade point average
    • The MTN Scholarship for Technology and Science (STS):
    • The minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) requirement for STEM students at public universities and colleges of education is 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second-class higher credit).
    • STEM students enrolled in public polytechnics must have obtained admission to the Higher National Diploma (HND) program and maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program.
    • Level of Direct Entry STEM students must have been admitted into a public university’s 300 level/3rd year with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program.
      • MTN Blind Students’ Scholarship (SBS):
    • To be admitted to universities or colleges of education, blind students must have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.5.
    • Blind students enrolled at public polytechnics are required to have obtained admission to the Higher National Diploma (HND) program and to have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program.

June 12, 2024, is the deadline for applications.
