In Nigeria, there are 58 unlicensed institutions on the list maintained by the National Institutions Commission (NUC).
Among the names are people who say they are associated with International universities in the nation.
In addition, further inquiries and/or legal actions concerning nine-degree mills are presently underway.
After an undercover journalist revealed how he completed his degree program in less than two months at a university in the Benin Republic and was sent to serve in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), degree certifications from two Francophone West African nations were suspended.
The following list shows which universities have “other campuses” denoted by “others” and which universities “operate anywhere in Nigeria” denoted by “anywhere” at the end. These are listed in the following order:
The Nigerian University of Accountancy and Management Studies, with locations across the country; Christians of Charity American University of Science and Technology, Nkpor, Anambra State, or any of its other campuses; University of Industry, Yaba, Lagos or any of its other campuses; University of Applied Sciences and Management, Port Novo, Republic of Benin or any of its other campuses in Nigeria; Blacksmith University, Akwa, or any of its other campuses; Volta University College, HO, Volta Region, Ghana or any of its other campuses in Nigeria; Royal University, Izhia, P.O. Among the others are Samuel Ahmadu University in Makurdi, Benue State, or any of its campuses; UNESCO University in Ndoni, Rivers State, or any of its campuses; Saint Augustine’s University of Technology in Jos, Plateau State, or any of its campuses; The International University, Missouri, U.S.A., Kano and Lagos studies centres, or any of its other campuses in Nigeria; Columbus University, UK, operating anywhere in Nigeria; Tiu International University, UK, operating anywhere in Nigeria; Pebbles University, UK, operating anywhere in Nigeria; London External Studies, UK, operating anywhere in Nigeria; Pilgrims University operating anywhere in Nigeria; and Lobi Business School, Makurdi, Benue State, or any of its campuses in Nigeria.
The NUC also included the following universities: Atlas University, Ikot Udoso Uko, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; Concept College/Universities (London), Ilorin; Halifax Gateway University, Ikeja; Kingdom of Christ University, Abuja; Western University, Esie, Kwara State; JBC Seminary Inc. (Wukari Jubilee University), Kaduna, illegal campus; and EC-Council USA, Ikeja, Lagos Study Center.

The other universities listed as illegal are West African Union University, in partnership with International Professional College of Administration, Science, and Technology, Nigeria, operating anywhere in Nigeria; Enugu State University of Science and Technology (Gboko campus); Career Light Resources Centre, Jos; University of West Africa, Kwali Abuja, FCT; Coastal University, Iba Oku, Akwa Ibom State; Kaduna Business School, Kaduna; Royal University of Theology, Minna, Niger State; and Gospel Missionary Foundation (GMF), Theological University, 165 Isolo Road, Cele bus stop, Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos.
The following degree mills have also been closed, and there are still open legal cases and/or ongoing investigations against them.
The actions are intended to recoup unpaid subscription payments from subscribers and prosecute the proprietors.

According to the NUC, anyone who uses or receives a certificate from any of the prohibited organizations on the list does so at their own risk.
