Overview: Ogun Poly shuts down over attacks on students and introduces online classes

Following repeated robberies of students at the school, the management of Gateway Polytechnic in Sapaade, Remo North local government area, Ogun State, shut down the facility.
It would be remembered that armed bandits had been targeting Polytechnic students, robbing them of their belongings, and sexually assaulting the female students.
Nine students were hurt and one died in the most recent robbery event.
The robbers had issue attacks on students and locals in the communities of Isara, Ipara, and Ode more than three times in the past two weeks.
This circumstances have compelled the administration to close the school until things return to normal.
The Acting Registrar, Ogun Poly, J. O. Popoola, signed a memo stating that online classes are commencing for students who just returned for the 2023–2024 academic year.
“I have been directed by management to notify all polytechnic students that, as of Monday, December 4, 2023, all class lectures have been suspended on campus for the next two weeks,” the memo said.
Therefore, all students are directed to enroll in the online classes to continue lectures for the current semester noting that online lectures have started with immediate effect.
