The Ahonaruogho family of Benin City, Edo State, has given N500,000 to Stephen Emeomi-Magi, the top graduating student at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, in appreciation of his outstanding academic performance.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the university’s vice chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, dubbed the prize the Mrs. Josephine Ajua Ahonaruogho Prize Money for Best Graduating Student.

At the institution’s convocation on March 4, Electrical/Electronics Engineering graduate Emeomi-Magi was named the top student for the 2023–2024 academic year. Of the 995 graduates, 102 graduated with Third Class, 495 with Second Class Lower, 367 with Second Class Upper, and 31 with First Class.
Dr. Richard Oma-Ahonaruogho, SAN, established the scholarship to promote academic achievement. He hoped that the award will encourage students to aim high and support Nigeria’s progress in his letter to OAUSTECH.
Abiodun Okunniga, the institution’s registrar, praised Emeomi-Magi for his effort and dedication, stressing that the honour demonstrates his passion to greatness. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the Ahonaruogho family for their ongoing support of students’ futures.
In an expression of gratitude, Emeomi-Magi acknowledged that he was taken aback to hear that he had won the award for best graduating student. He described the award as a reward for his diligence and hard work and thanked God, the university administration, and the Ahonaruogho family for the honour.
