Out of 29,000 Applicants, only 9,000 were accepted to Ekiti Varsity.

“Our school is a brand,” Ayodele said, attributing the university’s increasing popularity to its positive developments. The staff’s morale is excellent and the fortunes have improved.

Speaking at a press conference prior to EKSU’s 29th convocation event, Ayodele emphasised how the school’s higher rankings from a number of organisations have increased its appeal to potential students.

The university will award 16,446 degrees at the convocation, which is set for March 28 and 29. Of these, 15,981 will be first degrees and 465 will be higher degrees.

Furthermore, three notable Nigerians will receive honorary doctorates: Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Federal Inland Revenue Service Executive Chairman Dr. Zacch Adedeji, and Bank of Industry Board Chairman Dr. Mansur Muhtar.

Given the intense competition, the VC urged potential students to give EKSU top priority when submitting their applications.

As the first semester draws to a close, some applicants are still contacting us to enquire about admission. Because of its high enrolment and competitive admissions process, I suggest that anyone interested in EKSU make it their top pick,” he stated.

Regarding the university’s ranking, Ayodele said, “Out of the more than 275 universities ranked, EKSU was placed as the top state university in Nigeria by The Times Higher Education in its most recent ranking.

EKSU has also continuously been placed among Nigeria’s top three state institutions by Webometrics, Web of institutions, and US News & World Report.

The state government increased EKSU’s monthly subvention from N260 million to N410 million, Ayodele said, recognising Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s efforts to improve the university’s financial support.

He did, however, call for more increases, stressing that more money would allow the organisation to reach even bigger goals. “Although we value the government’s assistance, we continue to call for further subsidies.

We can improve our services and utilise the resources available to us even more effectively with additional financing,” he stated.

In terms of institutional discipline, Ayodele said the university has implemented stringent policies to keep employees and students in line.

He said that three employees had been forbidden from holding positions of responsibility for three years, one had been fired for sexual misbehaviour, and three others had quit their duty postings.

In addition, 21 employees received formal warnings for a variety of crimes, and nine employees had their appointments terminated.

“At the same time, we have also rewarded and recognised employees who have excelled in their positions and are eligible for advancement,” he said.
