Participate in the 2024 Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition- Win a Trip to London!

A pillar of literary culture and expression, the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition (QCEC) is calling on up-and-coming talent for its 2024 competition. Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Commonwealth, this esteemed competition is the oldest international writing competition in the world, providing a distinctive avenue for thousands of young people every year. It is a worldwide celebration of creativity, critical thinking, and the ability of written language to bridge gaps between many viewpoints and civilizations rather than just a competition.

Concerning the Competition

The competition’s topic for 2024, “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth,” is relevant to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) that will take place in Samoa in October of that year. The topic emphasizes the value of cooperation and resilience in tackling global issues, especially climate change, which disproportionately affects the Commonwealth’s Small Island Developing States.

To offer solutions, share inspiring tales of perseverance, and foresee a bright future for the Commonwealth, entrants are urged to consider their own experiences as well as cultural viewpoints. The goal of this year’s competition is to start a dialogue on how, in the face of global crises that threaten our shared future, resilience may be fostered via community, culture, and a collective spirit.

Awards and Acknowledgment

In addition to accolades, QCEC winners will receive these unique opportunities:

  • A Trip to London: The top two winners in each category will get to experience a week full of cultural and educational activities in London, which will end with an exclusive awards ceremony held at a royal palace.
  • Certificates of Participation and Awards: In addition to a Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award for exceptional writing, each participant will receive a Certificate of Participation.
