Peaceful Co-existence: GCB In Saminaka Unites Parents Across Nigerian States

Highlights of the festival include cultural dances in Hausa, Chawai, Igbo, Yoruba, Fulani, and Kurama Ethnic groups.

Parents seeking a glimpse of peaceful coexistence amidst Nigeria’s diversity in culture, ethnicity, and religion flocked to the Girls College of the Beatitude (GCB) Saminaka from the North, South, East, and West Nigerian States.

Parents watched with admiration as college students displayed their talents in sports, debates, cultural shows, and quiz activities during their annual inter-house tournaments.

Bitrus Garba, the PTA Chairman at the school, expressed his excitement about how the yearly outdoor extracurricular events have strengthened the friendly relationships between parents, teachers, and kids from many states and cultural backgrounds, fostering togetherness.

Mr. Garba disclosed that parents from the host state of Kaduna, as well as the states of Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Plateau, and Kano, had gathered under the auspices of GCB to deliberate on peaceful coexistence and unity among the Nigerian states.

Good people in leadership roles claim that this is the only space left for a more harmonious, peaceful Nigeria.

He explored the background of GCB’s founding by His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Joseph D. Bagobiri, of blessed memory, and said at the Presbyterian council meeting in Kafanchan in February 1999 that he intended to open a secondary school in Saminaka.

On November 20, 1999, the institution was formally launched with a mass conducted by the diocese’s education secretary, Rev. Fr. Tanko Peter Bauna, a representative of His Lordship.

The primary goal of the vision is to give girl children access to education that would instil morality, spirituality, and academic excellence, all of which will benefit society and Nigeria at large.

Garba went on to say that GCB’s goal is to shape students into contributing members of society who can support themselves in their many current and future interests as well as make ends meet.

The most recent Thursday gathering drew hundreds of parents, educators, and kids to the GCB facilities in the Saminaka town region of the Lere Local Government of Kaduna state.
