Following the recent kidnapping at the Confluence University of Science and Technology in Osara, Kogi State, the Nigeria Police Force has recovered seven more kidnapped students without incident.

PUNCH Online reports state that the bandits broke into the campus on Thursday night at approximately nine o’clock p.m., as students were getting ready for their impending tests. Arriving through the jungle, the armed attackers shot into the air to startle people before breaking into three lecture halls and robbing the students.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed a specialized Air Component of Police Security, which consists of helicopter crews trained for aerial surveillance and a monitoring team, along with the state’s Technical Intelligence Unit, according to a statement issued by SP William Aya, the public relations officer for the State Police, on Thursday.
The reinforcement was a part of the ongoing search and rescue effort against the abducting bandit suspects. The statement stressed the IGP’s dedication to protecting Nigerians’ lives and property, especially the security of students in the nation’s numerous educational institutions.
The statement said, “The reinforcement is in reaction to the IGP’s persistent enthusiasm for protecting all Nigerians’ lives and property, especially our children’s safety at the nation’s numerous schools.
“An additional seven casualties were rescued, increasing the total to 21, thanks to the dedication and unwavering spirit of the entire team.
“We shouldn’t get complacent and think that the struggle is over until it is.” As an alternative, all hands must be on deck to guarantee that everyone is safely rescued and that those responsible are held accountable.
The united team’s well-coordinated efforts resulted in the successful rescue of seven more casualties, bringing the total number of students saved to 21. But the statement emphasized how crucial it is to keep up the effort and remain watchful in order to guarantee the safe rescue of all victims who are still alive and the capture of those responsible.
The university community and the Kogi State Government praised the security agencies’ coordination, cooperation, and synergy and expressed satisfaction with the rescue operations’ progress. Bertrand Onuoha, the state commissioner of police, thanked the state’s residents, security units, and the chief of police for their steadfast support and unity.
