In order to allow for an unbiased inquiry into claims of sexual harassment, a coalition of demonstrators assembled at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja on Friday and demanded that Professor Abayomi Fasina, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), be suspended immediately.
With signs that read, “Ekiti Deserves Better” and “Protect Our Women,” the protesters contended that Fasina ought to resign while the investigation is ongoing. The demand is based on an audio recording that was leaked and purports to show the vice chancellor is involved in a case involving a married universityemployee.

Following the submission of a formal petition to Minister of Education Tunji Alausa, Victor Adetola, spokesperson for the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations Against Corruption, talked to reporters. He underlined that the investigation’s legitimacy would be jeopardised if Fasina is allowed to stay in office.
“A disciplinary inquiry has been going on for more than six months, and it has been routinely prolonged without a conclusion. According to Adetola, this delay is indicative of more serious problems like corruption and poor administration.
Given the gravity of the sexual harassment allegations, he maintained that a transparent and objective investigation could only be guaranteed by suspending the VC.
