Researchers at UNIABUJA Award N5.4 Million to Six Students.

Prof. Aisha Maikudi, the university’s vice-chancellor, gave the cash prizes to the winners at the 6th Undergraduate Research Day in Abuja, which had as its theme “Promoting National Development Through Research.”

The UniAbuja Centre for Undergraduate Research (CUR) organised the event. Maikudi reiterated the university’s dedication to promoting an atmosphere of inquiry, ingenuity, and creativity while coordinating research findings with answers to pressing societal issues.

We are dedicated to creating an atmosphere where creativity blossoms, curiosity grows, and innovation results in answers to society problems. “You are the next generation of thinkers and change makers as undergraduates,” she remarked.

The Centre for Undergraduate Research and its consultative members were praised by the VC for their commitment to developing the students and equipping them to tackle practical problems. Prof.

In her earlier statements, CUR director Taibat Adebukola Atoyebi stated that 20 student groups had expressed interest in the research funding, 13 teams had been shortlisted to submit research projects, and six teams had been chosen. On Tuesday, the six teams submitted their papers and were awarded N5,450,000 in grants.

This year’s gathering also featured the final results of three students who had previously presented their research proposals at the 4th Research Day, Atoyebi added.

With a revised criterion that places a priority on matching student research with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN to address relevant societal concerns, she said the CUR is currently taking submissions for the upcoming round of research awards.
