The 35th Convocation Ceremony of Rivers State University (RSU) is a historic occasion honoring academic accomplishments and the awarding of various degrees. The university community and the general public are cordially invited. This eagerly awaited occasion is proof of the perseverance and hard work of the instructors and students.
Comprehensive Schedule for the RSU Convocation
Sunday, 10th December 2023
- 10:00 AM: Thanksgiving service held by an interdenominational church at the Chapel of Redemption, RSU, Port Harcourt.
Monday, 11th December 2023
- 9:00 AM: Press conference held in the Dr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Senate Building’s Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room.
- 10:00 AM: Scrolls, pamphlets, and gowns are collected at the appropriate departments and faculties.
Tuesday, 12th December 2023
- 10:00 AM: Progression of the gown collection and departmental/faculty convocation preparations.
- 10:00 AM: Exhibition featuring intellectual and cultural displays at the RSU Amphitheatre.
- 1:00 PM: The Amphitheatre also features a cultural display that highlights the variety of our community’s ancestry.
Wednesday, 13th December 2023
- 10:00 AM: Departments and faculties will continue to gather academic regalia.
- 3:00 PM: A unique football game on the field in front of the Convocation Arena, showcasing teamwork and good sportsmanship.
- 5:00 PM: Graduands’ Night, a celebration of the experiences and accomplishments of the graduating class, at the Convocation Arena.
Thursday, 14th December 2023
- 12:00 Noon: Mr. Donald Duke, a former governor of Cross Rivers State, will give the 35th Convocation Lecture, an intellectual feast, in the Senate Chambers at RSU.
- 5:30 PM: A social gathering for networking and relaxation at a cocktail party at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge.
Friday, 15th December 2023
- 9:30 AM: A significant event for undergraduates, the awarding of bachelor’s degrees will take place at the Convocation Arena.
Saturday, 16th December 2023
- 9:30 AM: At the Convocation Arena, honoring notable careers and academic excellence, the Convocation will confer higher degrees and honor Emeritus Professors.
