A slew of disciplinary procedures against irresponsible and underperforming staff members in its educational system have been announced by the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). Demotions, suspensions, and official enquiries to teachers and personnel around the state are some of these measures.

SUBEB Chairman Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri told reporters following a surprise tour of a number of schools to kick off the third term that all education supervisors under the Bauchi Local Government Education Authority have been dissolved and told to resume their teaching positions right away.
Duguri claims that despite the state government’s ongoing investments in school infrastructure and teacher welfare, this decision is the result of rampant wrongdoing and a lack of dedication among supervisors.
He reaffirmed the Board’s zero-tolerance approach for carelessness and tardiness and emphasised the need of professionalism. Duguri underlined that all parties involved in education must continue to prioritise kids’ academic achievement.
Duguri also voiced his displeasure with the low teacher and student attendance in a number of places, blaming it on inadequate supervision by principals, School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), and other relevant authorities.
SUBEB has also authorised promotions for qualified employees exhibiting exceptional performance in an effort to strengthen commitment and raise staff morale.
Hajiya Talatu Yakubu, the Education Secretary of the Bauchi Local Government Authority, acknowledged the persistent absenteeism in rural areas while praising the increased attendance in urban schools during the monitoring tour. Teachers who do not report for duty without good, documented reasons will have their salary withdrawn, she said.
In order to promote ongoing commitment and service excellence, Yakubu also promised to reward hard-working employees.
