Student Graduates with 3.80/4.0 CGPA Despite Difficulties.

Olayinka Babatunde, a 27-year-old Nigerian, overcame severe financial difficulties to emerge as the University of Ibadan’s (UI) top graduating student in the Faculty of Arts. He obtained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.80 out of 4.00, earning a first-class degree in linguistics.Programs for studying abroad

Olayinka first wanted to study German because he was interested in the language, but after his brother suggested it, he decided to pursue linguistics because he thought it would enable him to learn more than one language.
He soon learnt, though, that the curriculum was less about learning new languages and more about language structure and usage. In spite of this, he loved learning and did well in school.

Olayinka had serious financial issues while attending UI, particularly after his father became ill in his third year and his family was unable to provide for him. He worked in a variety of online fields, such as information marketing, e-commerce, graphic design, copywriting, and company marketing, to earn a living. His lecturers also hired him as a speech and dataset annotator, and one of them suggested him to colleagues in the US for more freelancing work.

As he reflected on his experience, Olayinka underlined the value of tenacity and strategic planning. He described how he focused on other classes to balance his marks and studied diligently for tests in order to overcome subpar test scores in a difficult General Studies subject. He also emphasised the need of learning from others, saying, “Get closer to those who are better than you and learn from them instead of getting jealous of them.” Their techniques, tactics, and insights can make your life better.

Olayinka’s story is inspirational because it shows that one can overcome major challenges and attain academic success with perseverance and flexibility.
