TASUED Honours Adewale as a Leading Worldwide Instructor

During Mr. Adewale’s courtesy visit to his office, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Oluwole Banjo (FWISON, FASN, FAIMP, DFISN) made this announcement.

Prof. Banjo praised Mr. Adewale as a deserving representative of TASUED, Ogun State, and Nigeria, adding that the university has gained international prominence as a result of his award.

As he described Mr. Adewale’s achievements, the Vice-Chancellor took satisfaction in his admirable accomplishments, attributing them to Adewale’s exceptional academic performance. The Global Teacher Prize, also known as the “Nobel Prize of the Teaching Profession,” honours educators who have significantly advanced both education and society. The honour is a tribute to Mr. Adewale’s creative teaching strategies and commitment to revolutionising education. Nominee for the GEMS Education Global Teacher Prize and a Fulbright TEA Fellow,

The selection of Mr. Adewale came from 89 countries and more than 5,000 nominations. The $1 million award, which is in its tenth year, highlights the transformative power of educators around the world. Digital platforms have revolutionised teaching methods thanks to Mr. Adewale’s innovative usage of the Ijebu dialect to teach mathematics.

He has created training materials and travelled around Ogun State as an educational digital content maker to assist teachers in incorporating technology into their classrooms.

He created educational videos teaching mathematics in the Ijebu dialect in 2022, and he won the title of Nigeria’s second runner-up Best Teacher in 2023.

Mr. Adewale has represented Ogun State and Nigeria internationally by taking part in international programs such as the Limitless Global Educators Program in Houston, Texas, and the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Fellowship in the United States.

Mr. Adewale solidified his reputation as an international educator by working with 70 educators worldwide to translate PhET simulations into several languages for the University of Colorado.

With the help of educators in six nations, his program Transformation 5130 has taught more than 5,000 instructors.

He led the Ogun517GoToSpace initiative locally, which taught more than 500 science teachers from Ogun State’s 517 secondary schools. With the introduction of space exploration clubs in all 517 schools, Ogun State became the first state in Nigeria to carry out such a revolutionary educational endeavour.

Among Mr. Adewale’s honours are

  • The 2021–2022 Outstanding Youth in Education and ICT Award
  • Ogun State’s Best Senior Secondary School Teacher Award
  • Government (2022), Ago-Iwoye Descendants Union, USA (2023) Award of Achievement.

As a space science educator and international collaborator, Mr. Adewale never stops motivating educators and students with his projects and his Ijebu dialect-delivered radio show, Emancipate Through Technology.

TASUED honours Mr. Kayode Adewale for his outstanding accomplishments, which have elevated the University and established Nigeria as a global leader in academic excellence.

Prior to his appointment, Kayode Adewale taught part-time in the Department of Counselling Psychology and Educational Foundations at the College of Specialised and Professional Education (COSPED).

At TASUED, Mr. Adewale is also presently working towards a doctorate.
