After fighting on the school grounds, two instructors at Ibru College, Agbarha-Otor, in Delta State’s Ughelli North Local Government Area, Mr. Agofure R. and Mr. Etuh G., were suspended and given a one-month cleaning assignment for the staff restrooms.
As a disciplinary move, the state administration has suspended the teachers and suggested that they be transferred to other public schools. Additionally, they have been told to report to the Delta State Post-Primary Education Board’s Ughelli Zonal Office so that the event can be looked into further.

The altercation was harshly denounced by the school’s disciplinary committee, which also declared it a violation of professional ethics and imposed several sanctions, including a one-month notice period for Mr. Etuh G. to leave his official lodgings. The altercation was viewed as a disgrace to the teaching profession and received a lot of criticism from parents and educators.
Ibru College’s principal, Mr. Akporube L.O., confirmed the disciplinary measures and underlined that staff misconduct is strictly prohibited. He emphasised the value of discipline and professionalism among educators and issued a warning that any actions that compromise moral principles would not be accepted.
Southern Delta University Senior Lecturer Dr. Precious Omoruwou responded to the incident by criticising the professors’ behaviour and blaming it on a bad hiring procedure. She promoted ongoing professional development and training for teachers, highlighting the need for them to maintain strict discipline standards as role models for pupils and society at large.
