The 2024 Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Essay Competition (CAANEC) is now accepting entries from Nigerian seniors in secondary schools. This competition, which is organized by the PATELA Care Foundation in association with a number of partners, attempts to empower and educate young people about cancer research, activism, and awareness. Qualifications and Application Procedure
A senior secondary school student who resides in Oyo State or the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is eligible to enter the CAANEC essay competition. The following submissions are needed for the simple application process:
- A 500 word or less handwritten essay.
- A photo from a passport.
- A duplicate of your national identification card, birth certificate, or international passport bio page.
- Name, age, school, residential address, phone number, and email address are all examples of contact information.

Essay Subject
It is mandatory for participants to talk about preventative measures to lower their risk of cancer. Students are encouraged to investigate and comprehend preventive strategies in this area, which supports the promotion of a healthier lifestyle in their communities.
Awards
The competition gives winners in each region (Oyo State and FCT) the following attractive rewards:
- Winner: ₦150,000
- 1st Runner-up: ₦120,000
- 2nd Runner-up: ₦100,000
- Certificate of Good Effort: Every participant will receive an electronic copy of this certificate.
- Access to PCF health education platforms on cancer control.
Submission Closure Date and Winner Declaration
