The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akpoazaa Group, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, has given N500,000 to the top three graduating students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, in an effort to foster academic achievement and the development of human capital.

This annual financial prize was created by Dr. Igbojindu, a seasoned accountant and university graduate, to honour the top graduating students in the Department of Accountancy, the Faculty of Management Sciences, and the overall best graduating student.

He underlined that education is the most priceless gift one can give to safeguard a child’s future when speaking at the university’s 19th Convocation Ceremony, where 8,157 students graduated. As the most sustainable route to wealth development and societal advancement, he encouraged other prosperous Anambra State residents to make educational investments.

Dr. Igbojindu said, “An educated person is never a liability to society.”

After delivering on his promise to give the best scholars N500,000, he reaffirmed that his love of learning and academic success is in line with the Akpoazaa Foundation’s purpose to empower students and promote a culture of academic success.

The following are the recipients of the Akpoazaa Foundation Awards:

  • Egwuchika Tochukwu Onyeze, Electronic & Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Overall Best Graduating Student (CGPA: 4.95), ₦250,000
  • ₦150,000 for Ozobialu Ekenedilichukwu Melvi, the Faculty of Management Sciences’ Best Graduating Student (CGPA: 4.75).
  • Martins Obinna Kelvin, the Department of Accountancy’s Best Graduating Student (CGPA: 4.51), received ₦100,000.

In addition to the monetary prizes, Dr. Igbojindu contributed a 500-seat tent for this year’s convocation event through his business, Akpoazaa Event Planners.

He expressed his appreciation for UNIZIK’s contribution to his professional development. This is my way of giving back to my alma mater. All of my degrees, including my PhD, came from this prestigious university,” he said.

Egwuchika Tochukwu Onyeze spoke on behalf of the recipients and conveyed gratitude for the kind act. “Seeing a foundation acknowledge education as a worthwhile investment is encouraging.

He remarked, “I pray that God blesses Dr. Igbojindu to continue this admirable initiative, and I sincerely appreciate his kindness.” Egwuchika also offered advice on how to succeed academically, crediting his accomplishments to discipline, dedication, and a strong support system.

“I reduced distractions and surrounded myself with the right people.” Because they don’t actively participate in their academics, many pupils struggle. I was able to retain information better by teaching others,” he said.

He also attributed his achievement to divine direction. “I trusted God, and He guided me during my academic career,” he continued.

Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, UNIZIK’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, thanked Dr. Igbojindu and the Akpoazaa Foundation for their ongoing assistance. He urged other people and institutions to invest in education in the same way that he had.
