The Medical Varsity Structures in Anambra Leaves a Strong Impression on NUC

The National Universities Commission (NUC) recently conducted a visit to the Transatlantic Medicine and Health Science University, which is situated in the Umuchukwu Community of the Orumba South Local Government Area (LGA) in Anambra State. Led by the esteemed American medical practitioner and philanthropist, Dr. Godwin Maduka, the university seeks to tackle the increasing emigration of highly skilled individuals in Nigeria’s medical sector.

Under the guidance of Mr. Chris Maiyaki, the executive secretary of the NUC, the inspection team praised the university’s infrastructure for its high quality. Dr Maduka’s project, with a valuation in the billions of naira, signifies his dedication to reinvesting a portion of his economic interests into Nigeria.

The NUC has indicated its willingness to assist the effort, highlighting its importance in promoting the development of human capital in the country. Maiyaki asserts that the university will assume a pivotal part in cultivating the requisite human resources to deliver healthcare services to the populace of Nigeria.

The proposed university is characterized by several notable features, including a 17-story building that is widely recognized as the tallest in the Southeast and South-South regions. Additionally, the institution will have residential accommodations for principal officials, lecture theatres, administrative facilities, a dormitory, and other necessary amenities.

Dr. Maduka emphasized the pressing nature of the endeavour, referencing the growing inclination of healthcare practitioners to pursue international prospects. The individual provided reassurance that the institution would initiate complete operations in September, extending application opportunities to students pursuing diverse medical and allied health fields such as pharmacy, dental, nursing, radiology technology, and research programs.
