The Nigerian Woman Who Sold Goods On The Streets to Pay For Her School Fees Has Been Awarded A Scholarship To Study Abroad

Ojotule Okeyi, a Nigerian lady who once sold things on the streets to fund her education, has accomplished a noteworthy feat by winning the Mastercard scholarship, which will allow her to attend the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom to pursue a master’s degree. She added, “I went from selling things on the streets to pay for my next round of tuition to studying at The University of Edinburgh on a fully funded scholarship.”

Sharing her incredible experience on LinkedIn, she emphasized how the scholarship changed her life, taking her from selling things on the street to attending a top university with full financial assistance. Ojotule had to endure a trying time of tenacity and resolve after being turned down by many scholarship programs before being awarded the Mastercard Foundation fellowship.

She persevered in the face of obstacles and finally received the scholarship, which was a turning moment in her life.
Her master’s degree from the University of Edinburgh in Africa and International Development is a mark of her accomplishment as well as a victory for her mother and all widows who have given up all to help their kids go to school.
Ojotule views her achievement as a triumph for girls defying gender stereotypes and for mothers who have endured persecution for having exclusively female children. She held the positions of Edinburgh Earth Fellow and Postgraduate Student Representative while attending the institution.
Ojotule sent her sincere appreciation to the Mastercard Foundation for helping her realize her ambitions and invest in her future.
