The Ogun Government Requests That Organizations Expand Their Empowerment Initiatives

In order to reduce poverty and generate work possibilities, which are essential to young people’s overall development, empowerment programs should be diversified to teach youths diverse skills in a range of vocations.

At the 2023 Community Development Youth Empowerment program’s closing ceremony, Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, gave an assurance that the government would support the state’s joint development by empowering its citizens, particularly the youth.

Hon. Isiaka, who appreciated the company’s steadfast support in empowering young people and acknowledged the value of investing in future leaders, asked it to continue its partnership programs by assisting in the creation of markets for the goods the beneficiaries would be manufacturing in order to inspire them.

“Your unwavering commitment to creating chances for skill enhancement and self-determination is indicative of your strong desire to construct a more promising future for our children. To guarantee that the talents learned here continue to develop and be applicable in a world that is changing quickly, I want to promote the creation of mentorship programs and ongoing support networks,” he stated.

In order to maintain peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity for all, he made an appeal to the youth and other stakeholders in the host communities to return the favour by prioritizing peace and doing their bit by collaborating with and supporting the organization.

The Commissioner gave the beneficiaries instructions on how to take advantage of this chance to launch, expand, and hire employees. She also advised them to embrace technology to stay focused and up-to-date on developments in their fields of expertise.

The end of the skill acquisition program, according to the Plant Director of the Ibese Dangote Cement Plant, Mr Michael Johnson, is another indication of Dangote Cement’s dedication to the socioeconomic development of the communities it works with and to help its citizens become self-sufficient and enterprising.

He revealed that the initiative, which is run in association with the Industrial Training Fund, would be giving start-up packets to thirty young people from the 17 host towns who have completed their training in leatherworking and crafts.
Balikiss Akinlotan responded on behalf of the other recipients, praising Dangote Cement’s management for their commitment to helping young people become self-sufficient and guaranteeing that the start-up kits will be utilized carefully.
