The detailed account of “How I Became an ‘A’ Student” is provided by a student who has demonstrated that nothing is impossible in life with perseverance and hard work.
The writer was the top graduating student overall because he lived a life completely devoted to God and his religion and applied all he had been taught about life.
One of those triggers—what I now believe to be the most powerful force—that resulted in the biggest turn of events in my academic life was our most recent chat with my father.
I gave my results to him a few days before he left, as he was getting ready to go to his place of employment, not realizing that would be our last exchange.
He was not impressed, as seen by his expression when I gave him my results (5th place out of 32 students). Finally, though, he said, “You are performing far below expectation.” I am positive you will easily achieve the highest grade if you only focus more on your studies. His main worry was that, despite my extreme lack of study habits and discipline, I was still achieving mediocrely; before an exam, I would actually close my notebook and turn the pages.
His final words to me served as a catalyst, inspiring me to take actions I had never taken before.
Back then, when I was a young student in elementary school, I would study through the night while keeping the room lit with candles and lamp wicks. I soon realized that I was becoming stronger in my weaknesses, and I slowly made my way up the academic ladder from the lowest to the highest place.
I knew going into the university that I would have to put in more work and embrace the proper concepts since applying the right academic principles was what separated success from failure. I was able to derive the following fundamental ideas from Dr. David Oyedepo’s teachings, which served as the cornerstone around which my academic career was constructed:
- Vision
- Discipline
- Sacrifice
- Maximizing opportunities
- Putting God first
The aforementioned ideas are explained in my post, “HOW I BECAME AN ‘A’ STUDENT.”
In this piece, Ededa identifies problems that students face and suggests solutions. He did a wonderful job of addressing the misconceptions of being a genius without hard work, poor associations, discipline concerns, and exam misconduct. Because of the high calibre of the topics covered in this book, I heartily suggest it as a resource for students at all educational levels who want to succeed academically.
