Tunde Onakoya Promises to Pay for Sweeper’s Child Education.

Renowned philanthropist and chess champion Tunde Onakoya has stepped up to provide financial assistance for a little girl’s education after her mother came under fire for including her in early morning housekeeping duties.

An outcry was recently sparked when a woman going by the name of Just Adetoun publicly criticised the mother for forcing her daughter to help sweep their neighbourhood at four in the morning.

Following the criticism, Just Adetoun eventually apologised to the mother and promised to provide her a $9,000 monthly donation.

In reaction to this circumstance, Tunde Onakoya denounced the humiliation of the mother in front of her daughter.

Although he agreed that the youngster shouldn’t be forced to labour, he underlined that in these trying times, empathy is more important than judgement.

The philanthropist declared his dedication to paying for the girl’s education through college.

“It is extremely harsh to belittle a mother in front of her child,” he said, expressing his feelings. The fact that the event was captured on camera and circulated on social media only made matters worse.

My own mother was a cleaner back in 2016, and I was really upset that I was unable to provide for her. I wanted to stay hidden, so I frequently insisted on going with her, helping to carry water to expedite the task so we could get home before dawn. An excruciating truth is the difficulty that compels one to hide their labour during the night.

That child shouldn’t be working, to be sure, but she and her mother deserve compassion. Helping those in need is the only act of compassion.

I would like to assume responsibility for paying for the girl’s university education if no one has stepped up yet. During these really difficult times, I hope this helps them a little.

We may never fully understand the challenges because of our privileges.
