UNILAG MSc Graduate with 5.00 CGPA

Hassan, UNILAG MSc Graduate with 5.00 CGPA, says he loves helping others succeed.

Rauf Olayiwola Hassan distinguished himself at the recent convocation ceremony of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) by attaining a flawless score of 5.00 Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) in the Faculty of Engineering. Hassan discussed his educational path and future ambitions in an interview with Daily Sun.

Hassan obtained his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 2014. Graduated as the top student in his field, with a CGPA of 4.50/5.0. He characterized this experience as arduous but gratifying.

He made the decision to enroll in an MSc program at UNILAG in order to enhance his understanding and address the difficulties encountered in the area, based on guidance from a mentor who emphasized the university’s exceptional teaching and research resources. The proximity of studying in Lagos, where he also works, had a significant impact on his choice.

Hassan discovered that the MSc program was comparatively less difficult than his undergraduate courses, despite the difficulties of managing his job and family responsibilities. His achievement, which included establishing a record at UNILAG, sprang from a dedication to exceptional performance and a strong aversion to failure.

He devoted his leisure time to studies and often collaborated with others who also excelled academically. Hassan underscored the significance of assisting others in achieving success, which he regards as a crucial factor in his own accomplishments.

Hassan was told of his flawless CGPA by the postgraduate coordinator, who expressed astonishment, during a phone conversation. His elation was enormous, particularly since he had originally considered several courses daunting.

Hassan is now dedicated to his job, with the ambition of becoming a proficient consultant that specializes in safe and sustainable construction practices, non-destructive testing, building inspection, and condition assessment.

In addition, he is contemplating a profession in academia and is now investigating possibilities overseas to pursue a Ph.D. in the fields of building materials, non-destructive testing (NDT), sustainable infrastructure, and 3D printing.

His insatiable need for knowledge motivates him to actively seek new information and broaden his skills.
